A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF CERAMICS
Sarrah Maamouri, former mistress of the place, discovered ceramic in the Scandinavian countries in the 1970s when her husband was ambassador of Tunisia. Fascinated by this art, she perfected her technique in the various countries in which she lived, notably Italy, Algeria, and Germany.
In the 1980s, her husband returned to the fold and dedicated his retirement years to writing, mainly Quran verses. The verses he wrote on ceramics were then embellished and adorned with floral designs, colors, and gold leaves.
This is how Sarrah Maamouri’s talent is revealed over the years and in proportion to the bond binding her to her husband. Her exhibitions took her to Rome, Geneva, Algiers and Tunis. She works meticulously on Tunisian porcelain “La Rose des sables”, on “Rosenthal” and Limoges material.
The artist set up her studio in the house gardens. There, she produces plates, lamp bases, coffee and dessert table services, to name but a few.
The Sarrah Maamouri collection is presently on display in the house’s large living room.
